Minister Choi Kiyoung of the Ministry of Science and ICT hosted the 14th Korea-China Joint Committee on Science and Technology in Seoul on December 27 with the presence of Minister Wang Zhi-gang of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China and over 50 delegates of both countries.
In this committee, ways to enhance cooperation in implementing core science and technology policies of Korea and China have been discussed in the areas of biotechnology, technology for overcoming disability and carbon mineralization. Scientists of both countries discussed specific measures to strengthen cooperation in researcher exchange programs and joint research studies in order to increase research capabilities of scientists of both countries.
The two countries finalized the following two areas of biotechnology and IT to receive support under the Korea-China joint research in industry-academia-institute collaboration for 2020. Also, the two sides pledged to select six joint research projects in general cooperation out of biotechnology, IT, renewable energy, medical science, space science and climate change and provide support.
In addition, the Seventh Korea-China science, technology, innovation forum was held where scientists and engineers from academia and research institutes of both countries took part, on the occasion of the Korea-China Joint Committee on Science and Technology.
